GAME DAY GUIDELINES & TIPS
A Few Things That Help Game Day Run Smoothly
Game days are busy, exciting, and sometimes a little chaotic — that's part of the fun!
With players, coaches, volunteers, families, scorekeepers, music, equipment, and everything happening on the field, a few simple rhythms help all of us have a better experience.
Here's what we're keeping in mind this season.
KEEP THE BOYS COOL & HYDRATED
Texas baseball is hot baseball, and keeping our players feeling good is always the priority.
Players should arrive with plenty of water and start hydrating before they get to the field. During games, we'll encourage them to drink regularly and use the fans and cooling towels whenever they need them.
We'll have first-aid supplies and cooling resources available, and our coaches and volunteers will keep an eye on how everyone is doing.
Players: if you don't feel right, tell us. There's no need to try to tough it out.
CHEER LOUD. LET THEM PLAY.
We love hearing our families cheering from the stands!
During live play, the boys are already listening for cues from their coaches — positioning, where the play is, whether to run, stop, slide, and everything else happening in a matter of seconds.
The easiest way to help from the stands is simple:
Cheer them on. Encourage them. Celebrate them.
We'll handle the baseball instruction from the field so the boys have one clear voice to follow.
DUGOUT & FIELD ACCESS
We have a great group of people helping this team, and everyone has an important part to play.
For games, MBSA requires anyone in the dugout or on the field to be a credentialed coach registered with the team.
Our credentialed coaches for Fall 2026 are:

Our GameChanger, scoreboard, scorebook, pitch-count, music, Team Parent, and other volunteer roles are just as important — they'll simply operate from their designated areas outside the dugout and field unless that volunteer is also credentialed.
That helps us stay within league requirements while keeping everyone where they can best support the game.
HELP US CREATE A GREAT DUGOUT
The dugout should be a place where the boys feel like a team.
We want them watching the game, cheering for one another, learning what's happening on the field, having fun, and knowing their teammates are behind them.
Our adults help set that tone.
Encourage the good stuff. Help redirect distractions when needed. And if something happens between players that may need more attention, let a coach know so we can handle it thoughtfully.
We're here to help these boys enjoy baseball and enjoy being teammates.
GIVE OUR GAME CREW A LITTLE ROOM
There's a lot happening behind home plate too!
Our GameChanger Stats Recorder, Scoreboard Keeper, Manual Scorebook Keeper, and Pitch Count Keeper are tracking the game in real time.
One pitch can mean updating the count, recording a play, advancing runners, adding an out, changing the score, and tracking a pitch — sometimes all at once.
If they're staring intensely at a screen or scorebook, they're not ignoring you. They're probably trying to figure out what just happened!
Giving them a little space during live play helps us keep everything as accurate as possible.
If something looks off, we can always sort it out between innings or after the game.
EVERYONE HAS A PART
One of the things we love about this team is how many people contribute to making game day happen.
Some people coach.
Some keep score.
Some track pitches.
Some run music or the scoreboard.
Some keep the dugout moving.
And some bring the energy from the stands.
Different roles, same team.
A little communication, flexibility, and grace go a long way — especially when baseball inevitably gives us something nobody expected.
Most of all, we're here to give these boys a great place to play, learn, compete, laugh, and love the game.
